This has been a good year for the Bell Tower at St Helen’s as all the bearings of the bells have been renewed after 50 years of wear and tear, and the bells given a good overhaul.
Bell ringing is a great art and involves considerable skill. It is also a very sociable activity, as well as benefiting the church and community. Practice nights are usually on Wednesdays from 7.30 – 9.00pm. They are suspended until further notice.
Ringing usually takes place on Sunday mornings from 10.15 to 10.45. The bells are also rung at Festivals and Weddings, and on special occasions such as Remembrance Sunday this year celebrating the Armistice in 1918.
The team would like to invite anyone interested in finding out more and to try it out, to get in touch via the Parish Office, 259966.
